Abu Dhabi Call for Global Species Conservation Action

The members of our group are working on several conservation projects around the world and have been getting exciting results on this front in many countries. We will update this page with news as soon as they are generated.

For now, an important document for anyone interested in the conservation of species in our time, is the Abu Dhabi Call for Global Species Conservation Action. This document was produced with the support of more than 300 species conservation experts at the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) Species Survival Commission Leaders’ Meeting in Abu Dhabi, 6-9 October 2019.

The document is a call for urgent and effective action to address the unprecedented, unsustainable and growing impacts on wild species from human activities. You can download the Abu Dhabi Call for Global Species Conservation Action here.

We are also in the process of restructuring our group, transitioning to a new way of working focusing on committees in order to be more effective in our conservation efforts. At the same time, we are planning the general targets and activities of our group for the 2021-2024 quadrennium. Our goal is to substantially increase the reach and impact of the different conservation actions we undertake worldwide.

We hope you enjoy our new page on the web. The first version of it was created by Gabrielle Rougeaux, with input from Jesus Sigala and Steve Spear, and help from Sofia Sigala, Jose Luis Reyes, Jelka Crnobrnja, and other members from the Viper Specialist Group.
